Official Rules

Rules: To be eligible for WBAB’s Homegrown Superstar Contest, submissions must be received by Friday, November 11th at 5pm and the majority of band members must live in Nassau or Suffolk County. Bands may enter only once with one song in mp3 format, a maximum 150-work bio and a band photo. Only unsigned bands will be accepted.

Bands who were selected as “Finalists” in previous “Homegrown Superstar” contests are ineligible to be selected for 12 months following their previous inclusion.

Submissions may be sent by email or dropped off at WBAB. Bands who enter more than once may be disqualified. Songs must be original compositions. No cover songs will be accepted. Five bands will be selected by the WBAB Judges for four qualifying rounds (10/25-10/30, 11/1-11/6, 11/8-11/13 and 11/15-11/20). All voting rounds will run Tuesday 8am-Sunday 11:59pm. The public will vote for their favorite from each round at WBAB.com.

One winner from each of the four qualifying rounds will get the opportunity to perform a 30-minute set at the Grand Prize event on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Mulcahy’s in Centereach. Order of bands will be selected at random. Finalists who are not able to perform at the event for any reason will be disqualified and replaced by the second place band from their round. Each Finalist Band will receive 300 free tickets to the Finals. The band who gets the most people to turn in their tickets on the night of the Finals will be the winner. In the event of a tie, the grand prize winner will be selected by random drawing.

Bands who are not prepared to perform during the predetermined timeslot on the night of the Finals will be disqualified. The decision of the WBAB judges is final. WBAB is not responsible for entries not received or not playable due to technical issues or technical problems with the voting.
